Purchasing Manager

Due to expansion and growth, a manufacturer of precision components to the aerospace, defence, energy and automotive sectors has a new vacancy for a Purchasing Manager to join the team. Candidates are sought who have worked in a highly regulated manufacturing environment with good management skills and a strong business acumen.


Commutable from: Blackburn, Preston, Burnley, Bolton, Manchester, Rochdale.

Salary: £ 46,000 - £ 58,000 + benefits

Suitable for: Purchasing Manager, Procurement Manager, Senior Buyer, Supply Chain Manager.


The Role

Lead, manage and develop the purchasing team.
Developing strategic, strong supplier relationships.
Manage and lead negotiations and purchase agreements.
Coordinate negotiation strategies with suppliers.
Work as part of the senior management team to achieve business objectives.
Establish and support long term supplier relationships to maximise supply chain effectiveness.
Develop purchasing pipelines and achieve savings in excess of annual targets.
Negotiate key commercial contracts.
Ensure that the department is appropriately represented at group meetings.
Develop a culture that supports process management and continuous improvement.


The Person

Previous management experience with a hands-on approach.
Candidate will have worked in a highly regulated precision manufacturing environment.
Some understanding of aerospace, defence or automotive standards would be beneficial.
Strong commercial and business acumen.
Ability to motivate, mentor, develop and empower the workforce.
A strategic thinker, you will be able to influence and implement change.
