For the 6^th year running, Consilium Recruit was delighted to co-sponsor the annual Midlands Aerospace Alliance conference where we launched our 2019 Aerospace & Defence Salary Guide.

Attendees & sponsors included industry leaders Boeing, Airbus, Rolls Royce and Meggitt, plus some of the Midlands leading SME’s such as AE Aerospace, Gardner, Coventya & Nasmyth Group.

The reoccurring theme for the MAA conference over the past few years has been the ever-increasing skills shortage which was high on the agenda again. It’s clear that despite the right noises being made by government and bodies such as MADE UK, there is frustration that not enough is being done, let alone at the right level to fulfil the ever-increasing shortage. The importance of Apprenticeships was heavily promoted, with companies operating within the Aerospace sector urged to appoint more apprentices in an attempt to bolster internal talent pools.

Ultimately, it was great to hear the genuine positivity within the industry, buoyed by the number of major programmes in development, coupled with the advancement of new technology.
